Rising after a period of submission—
reclaiming space, voice and self
Rise is a painting about reclamation. The figure stands with her arms raised, not in surrender, but in full, deliberate command of the space around her — a gesture of resistance after a long period of being made small.
She emerges from a field of deep blues and greens, her form wrapped in fierce, layered red that reads as armor.
The painting draws on the posture and presence of Spanish flamenco, though the reference dissolves into something more universal: a woman no longer defined by the role she was given, but by the one she now chooses. What remains is not a dancer, but a stance — upright, unafraid, and entirely her own.
Rise speaks to the moment women step out of a position of playing 'small', into a version of themselves that was always there beneath the surface.

The body is painted in academically realistic detail, contrasting sharply with the abstract background and the overlying layers, what fade and dissolve into the surface. This tension reflects the work's themes of identity and transformation.
Built up in layers of acrylic and oil paint, with the canvas texture and drip-applied underlayers visible beneath the translucent top layer. This layered construction mirrors the themes of transformation and duality central to the work.
Please note: unlike the majority of works in this collection, 'Rise' is painted on cotton canvas stretched over a wood panel rather than an aluminum frame. As the panel's edges are not intended for display on their own, the piece is presented in a black box frame, included in the price.

Optional, you are always warmly welcome to visit my atelier in Vaassen, Gelderland, in the Netherlands, to view any painting of your choice in person before making a purchase.
Step 1 - Art Purchase Agreement
We begin by signing an Art Purchase Agreement, formalizing the sale of the agreed artwork(s).This agreement protects you as a buyer, guaranteeing delivery of your painting(s) with full legal certainty. A digital signing option is available for your convenience.
Step 2 - Invoice & Payment
Once the agreement is signed, you will receive an invoice with full payment details and payment link. Payment can be made by debit or credit card. All prices are inclusive of VAT and exclude shipping costs and framing.
- We understand that transferring a large amount can feel like a big step — especially if we haven't worked together before. That's why we offer an option with added security for the buyer: payment can also be arranged through an Escrow Company. Funds are held by a trusted third party (the escrow company) and released to Carlotta Adriaansz Art only once the artwork has been delivered undamaged.
Step 3 - Shipping
Your artwork will be carefully prepared for (inter)national shipment, by a logistics company specialized in the safe, fully insured transport of fine art. Each painting is packed in protective materials and secured in a wooden crate. International shipping takes 15–25 days, with progress updates provided.
Step 4 - Receiving Your Artwork
Every artwork is delivered ready to display, mounted on a high-quality aluminum backframe, 4 cm deep, with the canvas made of premium cotton or linen stretched over it. The edges of the canvas are wrapped around the frame and finished with paint and a protective top coat, meaning the artwork is ready for display without the need for an additional (decorative) frame. Each piece is hand-signed by the artist and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, included with every painting.
